Can BSC’s Maxwell upgrade challenge Ethereum’s DeFi dominance?
The BNB Chain (BSC) has taken a significant leap in the competition among Layer-1 chains by reducing its block time from 1.5 seconds to 0.75 seconds with its Maxwell upgrade. This enhancement propels BSC to produce approximately 115,200 blocks daily, which is nearly eight times the projected daily output of Ethereum once it undergoes its planned Glamsterdam upgrade. Ethereum is considering halving its block time from 12 seconds to 6 seconds by 2026, but this would only allow it to produce around 14,400 blocks per day in comparison to BSC's vastly increased rate.
